This is a web page for do-it-yourself fashion designers.
You wonder what kinda stuff I mean? Well here are some loose criteria
I hope to find folks filling:
- low-volume production (hand-made by you and friends)
- clothes given away / traded / or sold at cost (or minimal markup)
- radical designs, novel ideas that buck the mainstream fashion mentality
Why do this? Well, I saw the need for an online collective for
people doing this sort of thing. Hopefully we will be able to all
benefit from things like:
- communication (listings of other folks doing d.i.y. fashion)
- network to trade cool clothes (much like the zine and music scene)
- online pics of your works (i have room for some, but we can work on that)
- trading ideas, on this site
- listing of independent, small-time shows / stores / galleries to show off your fashions
- a cool place for fans to look
i dont want this to be a scmoozy net.mall nor do i want mtv to be
drooling all over this stuff for what to dress their "news" staff in.
i simply like designing fashion, and, even more, seeing people designing
stuff just for the hell of it. sure, 'fashion' is a legit business,
and that is all fine and stuff; but that aint what this is for.
So, this thing is JUST getting off the ground...
This page is here to get people's attention and get into search engines.
Much is yet to come here; but, right now, I am looking
for suggestions, contributions, related sites, and ideas. Please.
